The Her Universe Fashion Show: Junior Design Camp
Calling all aspiring fashion designers! Are you too young to compete in the Her Universe Fashion Show? Do you want to be a fashion designer or maybe even work for a fashion company like Her Universe someday? If you are between the ages of 6 and 17 come and learn to design with the Her Universe team and Her Universe founder Ashley Eckstein. This three-hour session is free with a WonderCon badge and no experience is needed. During this three-hour session, junior designers will learn how to bring their ideas to life with a step-by-step tutorial of the fashion design process. We encourage junior designers of all skill levels to just come with their imagination and get ready to learn and sketch out their designs! Parents are welcome to attend, participate and ask questions!

Causeplay: A Fandom with Purpose
Mark Chu-Lin (Avengers Initiative club president, event coordinator), Sandy Correa (administrator, department of pediatrics, LAC+USC Medical Center), Karen Katich (FAA, airway transportation systems specialist), Jeanie Croshaw (child psychiatry), and James A Powell (founder and vice president, Monster City Studios; senior fabrication advisor, Magic Wheelchair) will discuss how cosplayers and prop builders serve their communities through their love of pop culture. Hear about their experiences, learn how to join organized groups, learn about some of the organizations that receive help, and find out how to get involved in service efforts.

Fon Davis (25-year veteran of miniature VFX), Don Wistos (worked as director of prop fabrications/mold making for productions/strategic operations), and Sam Girgis (owner of BiggerBoxModels/3D printing and prototyping) will discuss all aspects of garage kit modeling and utilizing 3D printing techniques for new and existing home business ideas.

Do you want to know what it takes to build your own droid from the Star Wars galaxy? Southern California R2 Builders Mike Senna, Michael McMaster, William Miyamoto, Chris Romines, and Victor Franco will discuss how their robots were built and how they work. Topics include materials, blueprints, building techniques, tools, and the electronics used to bring their droids to life.

An Introduction to Constructing Foam Armor
Have you seen the great costumes in the Exhibit Hall and wondered how do they do that? Well, Aaron Engelbeck (a.k.a. Neo Cosman), Gary Griggs (a.k.a. Pink Wookie), and Erik Erspamer (a.k.a. erikvonwulf) will discuss the bare bones basics on how to get started with your first pieces of foam armor including materials needed. Q&A session to follow.

The 2019 WonderCon Masquerade
Our big onstage costume competition returns for its 15th year, featuring amazing, imaginative, and beautiful costumes crafted by our talented and creative attendees. Costumes from all genres, some as solo entries, some as themed groups, compete for trophies, cash, and other awards as given by our guest pro judges and representatives from companies and organizations. Our Master of Ceremonies is the always amusing artist, writer and Girl Genius publisher Phil Foglio. Entertainment during the judging intermission will feature the Lucasfilm-recognized Saber Guild lightsaber performance group and the talented and creative Corps Dance Crew. Doors open for audience seating at 8:00 PM but the line for choice seating starts forming earlier. See pages 00 for complete information.
